In helping you get focused, get on track, and get back to profitable growth this blog is part 3 of a 12 part series providing more detail supporting the Business Change Flow presented on my web site, Center for Managing Change.
The previous blog in this series talked about 4 Tips To Get Back On Track For Profitable Growth. In order to do that we need to turn our attention to 3 Ideas To Get Focused For Profitable Growth. Establishing and maintaining profitable growth requires a laser-sharp focus that you sustain through all the distractions, clouded thinking, frustrations, increased risks, and concerns about where it is all going. This is one of those activities that “reads easy, does hard.”
Here are 3 ideas that can help with that process:
- Make a gratitude list. Start each day by doing a warm-up exercise of making a gratitude list. Do it in a relaxed manner. List what you have that you can use to grow your business. Set your attitude for the rest of the day. This will help fend off distracting, negative thoughts.
- Expect the unexpected. Allow yourself, ahead of time, to expect and accept some number of unexpected events to occur. This will help you keep your cool and keep the positive focus active.
- Take risk in stride. There’s the good, the bad, and the ugly. Try and view all them neutrally, even the good stuff. Simply make note of what occurs and decide what your next step will be in line with that. Working this way will definitely help maintain the goal — focusing.
With practice this will get more and more natural. Both your efficiency and effectiveness will go up accordingly.
In order to have a focus it is important to understand how to implement change. To learn more about this read the next blog in this series, 7 Ideas For Staying Sane When You Implement Changes.
